Zyrtec (Cetirizine)

General information

Zyrtec is an antihistamine that treats symptoms such as itching, runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing from 'hay fever' and other allergies. It is also used to relieve itching from hives. Zyrtec works by blocking histamine from binding to histamine receptors and causing allergy symptoms. Histamine is also responsible for the formation of hives (whether caused by allergies or not). Zyrtec also works to alleviate the itching due to hives by blocking histamine.
